I don’t know where Johann Gottfried came from, but I know that he belong to the German parish of the church.


Historical facts of Copenhagen where they lived:


1795 fire  - a great part of Copenhagen was damaged and a lot of people lost their homes.


1801 bombed from the seaside by the British navy.


Smallpox, cholera and plague flourished and lot of people suffered from these diseases and died too.

It was not a healthy place to live – too many people in a small town.



Johann Gottfried and Margrethe Engelke gave birth to 11 kids –3 of them got smallpox and died in 1797
